Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: Small Business Saturday. Small is the new Big!

Like any farmers' market in the world, the Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market is, simply stated, a gathering of small businesses (farmers, growers, and food artisans) supported by their customers and communities.

This Saturday, November 30th, is Small Business Saturday across America. Buying local and supporting small businesses (in person and online) has a tremendous impact. According to the National Federation of Independent Business, in 2018, approximately 2.2 million small businesses participated in the event, as did 104 million consumers. More and more, small businesses and consumers are particpating in Shop Small (Small Business Saturday) each year.

As this season of giving, eating, drinking, and merriment approaches, thank you for supporting small business! Thank you for buying local! Thank you for shopping Uptown Westerville!

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: Hot Stove League

As cold weather approaches, outdoor markets end their seasons, and harvest season winds down on the farms, and you can find your favorite Market Wednesday food artisans indoors at the Worthington Farmers' Market. The Worthington Farmers Market is now indoors Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon (through April, 2020) at The Shops at Worthington Place (7227 N. High St. at N. High and Wilson Bridge, just south of 270 and 23).

Look for Sweet Thing Gourmet, Pleiades Maple Products, Montezuma Sauces and Salsas, Kingdom Fish, Ohio Farm Direct, Made Without Grain, and Ohio City Pasta.

Add local flavor to your holiday eats with market vendor fare and artisan foods make great holiday (or anytime) gifts.

(Note: The Worthington Farmers Market closes for the day on the Saturday after Thanksgiving each season.)

- In Licking County, the Granville Farmers' Market also heads indoors, and has a special November outdoor market right before Thanksgiving. The Granville Farmers Market winter hours begin November 2nd, running into February, 2020 (exact season-end date TBA), from 9:30 a.m. to Noon, at Granville Elementary School, 310 N. Granger St. (If you are planning to head to Granville, check-in with the market or your favorite vendor directly - the website says there is a winter market "most Saturdays" on their website.)

The special outdoor market in Granville is Saturday November 23rd from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on N. Main St. at Broadway

Look for Bird's Haven Farms and Lona Belle's Home Baked Goods. These vendors will make limited engagement appearances in Granville, so you may want to check with them first.

It's the one day of the year that princesses, super heroes, storm troopers, and dinosaurs walk amongst the ordinary citizens at the farmers' market. Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: No Wheels on Wednesdays!

The road to success is dotted by many tempting parking spaces. [Will Rogers] 

Keep your wheels out of the market space on Wednesdays. 

The market space parking lot is posted NO PUBLIC PARKING from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesdays during market season (May thru October).

Church of the Messiah can still access the space up until 1:30 p.m. 

The market works with WPD on keeping the lot clear - we can cite... we can tow, and we prefer it never get to that point.

Fortunately,  99.9% of area drivers stay out of the parking lot on Wednesdays- which we greatly appreciate! It's the .1% that can completely disrupt the market space and compromise safety.


In Current Events: With the upcoming debate event taking place on the Otterbein University campus, Uptown parking and traffic logistics are changing; some of those changes are already in place. WHAT WILL NOT CHANGE is the fact that the parking lot at N. State and E. Home Streets (62 N. State) is CLOSED to PUBLIC PARKING on Wednesdays from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market. Please, help out the community and keep your vehicle out of the market space. It's a farm fresh day in Uptown Westerville.

This week's weather forecast says it's a great day to visit the farmers' market! Sunny skies, a summer breeze, temps in the 70s, low humidity, and no chance of rain.

Today's vendor line-up includes: Kingdom Farms, Java Central, Ohio City Pasta, Lona Belle's Home Baked Goods, Doran's Farm Market, Hinton Apiaries, Flying J Farm, Bird's Haven Farms, Branstool Orchards, Made Without Grain, Sweet Thing Gourmet, Montezuma Brand Sauces and Salsas, and Kingdom Fish.

It's a good day for a good day and it's a farm fresh Wednesday in Uptown Westerville.

This week's forecast is offering up a pretty nice weather day, with temperatures in the low-to-mid 80s, a light breeze, partly cloudy skies, only slightly elevated humidity. and a 7% chance of precip.

Traffic report: The State Street 'Plane and Overlay' project is still going on between Lee Terrace and Walnut, but winding down - the road surface is now level and newly paved, looks like there is still some lane painting left to do. And, the 'Uptown Improvements' project (and Columbia Gas project) works continue. The space in front of Hanby School is mostly complete - a crew will eventually replace the brick - as they had to use placeholder brick due to a shipping error. Hot town, summer in the city describes this week's weather forecast.  We're looking at temperatures in the high 80s, and due to the elevated humidity and 7 mph breeze, add about 11° to that - at least we have partly cloudy skies, so we are looking at a hot afternoon with just a little bit of air movement. And... a 51% chance of precip between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. (IF we see any precip it will probably be a pop-up.) Dress cool. Be cool. Stay cool.
