Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: October 16th Market Report

It's Market Wednesday in Uptown Westerville!

Toss a sweatshirt in the car when you head to the market - seasonal weather may have arrived! The overnight rains will move on, leaving clouds, temperatures in the high-40s/low-50s, and substantial wind. There's an outside chance of precip (10%) in the last hour of the market.

Today's vendor line-up includes: Bird's Haven Farms, Branstool Orchards, Made Without Grain, Sweet Thing Gourmet, Kingdom Fish, Kingdom Farms, Java Central, Ohio City Pasta, Hinton Apiaries, and Flying J Farm.

We will not see Lona Belle's Home Baked Goods this week.

And, Montezuma Brand Sauces and Salsas is going to be a game-time decision.

We welcome community partners Westerville Electric Division and Westerville Water Division this week.

Traffic report: The 'Uptown Improvements' project (and Columbia Gas project) works continue. Traffic is maintained for these projects, so look for "lane redefinition" via orange cones, road surface grade changes, steel plates, construction activity (people and equipment on the move), and slower speeds. Be safe. For the updated low-down on construction around town: check out GoWesterville. https://westerville.maps.arcgis.com/a…/Shortlist/index.html…

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: No Wheels on Wednesdays!

The road to success is dotted by many tempting parking spaces. [Will Rogers]

Keep your wheels out of the market space on Wednesdays.

The market space parking lot is posted NO PUBLIC PARKING from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesdays during market season (May thru October).

Church of the Messiah can still access the space up until 1:30 p.m.

The market works with WPD on keeping the lot clear - we can cite... we can tow, and we prefer it never get to that point.

Fortunately,  99.9% of area drivers stay out of the parking lot on Wednesdays- which we greatly appreciate! It's the .1% that can completely disrupt the market space and compromise safety.

In Current Events: With the upcoming debate event taking place on the Otterbein University campus, Uptown parking and traffic logistics are changing; some of those changes are already in place. WHAT WILL NOT CHANGE is the fact that the parking lot at N. State and E. Home Streets (62 N. State) is CLOSED to PUBLIC PARKING on Wednesdays from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market. Please, help out the community and keep your vehicle out of the market space. Thanks.

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: October 2nd Market Report

It's a farm fresh Wednesday in Uptown Westerville.

No way around it, we are expecting a very hot October afternoon, with temperatures in the low-90s, mostly cloudy skies, elevated humidity, and an 11 mph breeze. Stay cool on your trip to the market!
Today's vendor line-up includes: Hinton Apiaries, Bird's Haven Farms, Branstool Orchards, Made Without Grain, Sweet Thing Gourmet, Montezuma Brand Sauces and Salsas, Kingdom Fish, Kingdom Farms, Java Central, Ohio City Pasta, and Lona Belle's Home Baked Goods.

We will not see Flying J Farm. (Dick will return next week).

Ohio Farm Direct is a "game-time" decision due to the heat.

There is a distinct possibility Doran's Farm Market has completed their season - it's all fresh-picked, so we won't know for sure if they have enough to come to market until later today.
We do not have a community partner this week.

Traffic report: The 'Uptown Improvements' project (and Columbia Gas project) works continue - current activity is just north of Park and State; look for steel plates in the northbound and turn lanes. Traffic is maintained for these projects, so look for "lane redefinition" via orange cones, road surface grade changes, steel plates, construction activity (people and equipment on the move), and slower speeds. Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: October 2nd Weather Outlook

October is the fallen leaf, but it is also a wider horizon more clearly seen. It is the distant hills once more in sight, and the enduring constellations above them once again. [Hal Borland]

Forecasts are calling for an unseasonable, hot afternoon (think July). Look for temperatures in the low-90s, mostly cloudy skies, elevated humidity, a teeny chance of precipitation, and what we hope is a sustaining 11 mph wind.
