Hi!

Mockingbird Meadows will not be able to make it to market today. Things are running away from me here at the farm and I just can’t get away!

Next week we will have two new honey infusions available at the booth: Chamomile and Rose. Both are delicious!!

Green health to you,

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: The Heritage Bakery on June 25th

Sue Renner of The Heritage Bakery says...

The "Skinny Jean" cookie will be back this week! For those of you who maybe can't tolerate wheat, this cookie is made with spelt flour (still has gluten), which is more eaily digested than wheat flour. This cookie is high in fiber (besides the spelt it has bran flakes and rolled oats), low in fat (canola oil is used instead of eggs or butter) and contains deliciously moist dried cherries!

For those of you who enjoy the "high test" cookies, there will be chocolate chip, peanut butter and oatmeal raisin.

I will be bringing these fresh baked fruit pies: Springtime Strawberry Rhubarb, Mom's Apple, Peachy Peach and Tart Cherry.

There will also be Jumbo Cinnamon Rolls.

During my trip to New York City this past weekend I visited the Union Square Farmers' Market (WOW!), the Chelsea Market where the Food Network films their shows, and for us "Sex In The City" lovers, The Magnolia Bakery - known for its delicious cupcakes. We stood in line for 20 minutes at 10:30 at night just to get a cupcake! Call me crazy but it was awesome!!

Thanks, Sue!

Visit The Heritage Bakery this week at The Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market. Tip: If you want pie, come early!

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: Vanilla Pudding Recipe from Snowville Creamery

Vanilla Pudding from Snowville Creamery

Jen Bhaerman from Snowville Creamery shares...

Below is a basic recipe for vanilla pudding using our deliciously fresh milk.

I would recommend using this as a base for parfaits layered with macerated berries and topped with chopped almonds or pistachios.

You could also use the pudding as a filling for cakes, alternating between cake, pudding, berries and cake, finishing with fresh berries as a garnish. Enjoy!

Vanilla Pudding

3 ¾ cups Snowville Creamery whole milk
1 cup Sugar
1 pinch Salt
1 Vanilla bean (or substitute 1 ½ tsp vanilla extract)
4 ½ Tbs Cornstarch

▪ Stir together 3 cups of milk, sugar and salt in a medium sauce pot over medium-low heat.

▪ If using a vanilla bean, split in half lengthwise and scrape seeds into milk using small sharp knife, then add pod. Cook just until mixture begins to steam.

▪ Combine cornstarch and remaining milk in a bowl and blend; there should be no lumps.

▪ Remove pod from pot and discard.

▪ Add cornstarch mixture; cook, stirring occasionally, until mixture starts to thicken and barely reaches a boil, about 5 minutes. Immediately reduce heat to very low and stir for 5 minutes or so until thick.

▪ Stir in vanilla extract, if using.

▪ Pour mixture into a 1-quart bowl and cover with plastic wrap directly on the pudding to prevent formation of a skin.

▪ Refrigerate until chilled, and serve within a day.

▪ Prior to serving whisk to remove lumps if needed.

Yield: 6 servings.

Jen Bhaerman from Snowville Creamery tell us what Snowville will have at the market this week. Jen says...

Thank you so much for the warm welcome we received last Wednesday at our first Westerville Farmers’ Market.

Although we did not have milk for sale, the market was a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with our future customers. From speaking with all of you it was evident that the power of community is alive and well in Westerville.

This coming week we will have plenty of fresh milk for sale (whole, 2% and fat free) and we may even bring some whipping cream and half & half.

I am ready for another hot day at the market and looking forward to seeing our customers! We FINALLY received our bottles so I have half pound jars of honey today. Thanks to all our regulars who have been so patient!

I’m also bringing freshly dried nettles today. What can you do with nettles? Nettles are great for women’s health, childhood eczema and as a general overall health support. Add these herbs to your tea or your soup to take advantage of the highest plant available concentration of iron.

Stop by and pick up our featured product for FATHER’S DAY! I’ve mixed up a fresh batch of all-natural shaving cream that is popular among all the male members of my immediate and extended family.

harvest guide provided on the Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market webpage or ask your favorite market vendor during your visit today.

Looking for organic and/or locally-grown produce? Produce at the Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market is both conventionally and organically grown. The market also features organic meats from

Uptown Westerville Farmer's Market: Sue's Kitchen has a new Name

Farmers' Market Wednesday is here, so we look forward to seeing you at the Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market, 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. at N. State and E. Home in the Church of the Messiah parking lot.

Tomorrow marks an important day for market vendor Sue Renner:

I have been pondering for awhile about changing what I call my baking business. I called it "Sue's Kitchen" because I had to think of something quick for the very first Farmers' Market application I filled out 5 years ago.

So, now its 5 years down the road and I finally have a name that defines what I do. From now on you will be tasting and purchasing homebaked, heirloom goodies from... The Heritage Bakery.

I decided on this name because I grew up on a farm learning to bake pies, cookies and breads alongside my Mom and Gramma. Many of the tastey treats I bring to the market came straight from their recipe box; many are award-winning recipes. In a nutshell its 'baking the way it used to be." With that said, tomorrow I will be bringing a variety of large and small homebaked and decorated fruit pies, chocolate chip and peanut blossom cookie stacks, jumbo cinnamon rolls - the best buns in town : ) and Pastry Lemonade (some with pecans and some with cherries).

If the weather permits we will also bring cut stems of gorgeous peonies and iris for your table.

See you then!
