Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: Cops and Kids and More....


 This coming weekend through Monday, September 11th, there is a lot going on in Westerville. 

Hazardous Waste Collection Day, Saturday, September 9th, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., 350 Park Meadow Rd. (Westerville Service Division)

This event is efficiently run and well-attended. Check the link for the list of acceptable items. The event is free, with one exception - if you are dropping off latex and water-based paint, it's $1 per can disposal fee. Hazardous Waste Day Info.


Grandparent's Day Celebration, Saturday, September 9th, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Westerville Senior Center, 310 W. Main St.

Celebrate grandparents and grandchildren at the free, fun family-friendly event. The event features activities that include large inflatables, a 40-foot dry slide, obstacle course bounce house, entertainment, great food, an ice cream truck, and professional face painting.


Cops and Kids Day, Sunday, September 10th, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., 325 N. Cleveland Ave.

This is a cool family-friendly event that gives kids an opportunity to meet and interact with law enforcement in a hands-on, up-close and personal way. Kids can check out vehicles, equipment, and technology and, agencies from all over the state of Ohio join in with cruisers, helicopters, motorcycles, tactical vehicles, and K-9s. Kids can also participate in arts and crafts, inflatable gyms, and other activities including the ever-popular "Dunk-a-Cop" tank. Local hospitals and safety organizations also attend the event and provide various child safety materials, promotional items, and other interactive exercises.The first 1500 children in attendance receive a free bag and water bottle. The Great Westerville Food Truck Fest, Sunday September 10th, 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., 455 Executive Campus Drive (near N. Cleveland and County Line Rd. W)

This is a win/win/win event. You can help WARM (Westerville Area Resource Ministry) feed the community (by helping WARM pack bags for their Share Bac a Pac program), while presenting an awesome opportunity to sample from the menus of some of the best of the best Central Ohio food trucks! Westerville Doggie Paddle, Sunday, September 10th, 1:30 p.m. 2:30 p.m. for dogs under 25 pounds and then 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for all dogs, Highlands Park Aquatic Center, 245 S. Spring Rd., $5. admission, must have proof of license and current immunization.

Attention all good dogs - it's pupper pool party time! Time for the annual big swim.


World War I Veteran Cemetery Walk, Sunday, September 10th, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Otterbein Cemetery, 175 S. Knox St. @ W. Walnut

Westerville Public Library's Westerville History Center presents a historic walk through Otterbein Cemetery. Hear stories of local veterans and heroes of World War I, to commemmorate the centennial of the United States entry into the "war to end all wars."

Enter the cemetery at the intersection of W. Walnut and S. Grove Street. Late arrivals welcome.

Blue Star Memorial Marker Dedication, Monday, September 11th, 9 a.m., Hanby Park, 115 E. Park Street @ Summit St.

Presented by Westerville Garden Club, in cooperation with American Legion Young-Budd Post 171 and Westerville Parks and Rec

Blue Star Memorial is a tribute to members of the armed services who defend, have defended, and will defend this country.

9.11 First Responders Ceremony, Monday, September 11th, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., First Responders Park, 374 W. Main St.

Guarding the Gates of Freedom: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.
