Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: July 19th Market Report

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the blue sky, is by no means waste of time. [John Lubboce]

Another farm fresh Wednesday in Uptown Westerville!

And the three hottest hours of the day today are... 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. When we say hot - temps in the high 80s, and then add 10° for the feels-like temperature. So, smokin' hot with partly cloudy skies, no chance of precip, and a 6 mph breeze that we hope might sustain.

Repeating the advice we pass on to our vendors each week during this hot, humid weather, we share with you: Hydrate. Dress cool. Be cool. The building next to us (Messiah's Gathering Place at 74 N. State) is air conditioned, if you are feeling the heat, give yourself a break.

If you are thinking peaches, Branstool Orchards had peaches to sell up until about 5:30 last week (and at that point they were selling the "seconds"). The folks at Branstool look at every peach before it goes into your basket (not kidding!), to make sure you are getting the best peaches of the bunch to bring home. So, think about that and think about today's forecast - be safe - there is a good chance you'll get peaches even if you decide not to slow cook while standing in-line before market open. And, Doran's replenished corn from the farm during market hours, so they had sweet corn to sell up until market close.

This week's lineup: Montezuma Sauces and Salsas, The Crazy Cucumber, Kingdom Fish, Fox Hollow Garden, Brown Brothers Farms, J-Pops, Ohio City Pasta, Lona Belle's Home Baked Goods, Doran's Family Farm, Hinton Apiaries, Flying J Farm, Bird's Haven Farms, Branstool Peaches, Made Without Grain, Sweet Thing Gourmet, and Miss Cristy's Bakery.

We will not see Pleiades Maple Products this week.

This week's community partners are Westerville Electric Division/Westerville Water Division.

Just a shout out to Meza, 48 N. State, just steps south of the market. It's become a Market Wednesday tradition. Meza Wine Shop features a market hours cocktail, and is a great resource for great wine to accompany your market fare.

Home grown. Home made. All Ohio. The Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market opens for business each Wednesday, from May through October, between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. at North State and East Home Streets.

Browse. Visit. Taste. Shop. Enjoy.

Thanks for giving us the business!

See you at the market.
