Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: May 3rd Market Report

Spring is the time of year when it is summer in the sun and winter in the shade. [Charles Dickens, Great Expectations]

Seems like today is a good day for a little farm fresh in Uptown Westerville. Welcome to Opening Day of the 2017 Market Wednesday season.

The market spans three seasons - Spring, Summer, Fall. Spring produce is fresh green, with a little bit of color thrown in. Summer produce is bursting bright, adding color and variety to the landscape. And, Fall produce is muted colors, and deep earthtones, like falling leaves and the changes to the landscape.

Today, we welcome a new season, the twelfth season, of the Uptown Westerville Farmers Market.

Weather forecasts look great - variably cloudy skies, temperatures around 60°, a light breeze, and zero chance of rain.

The produce selection today will include, wild ramps, asparagus, rhubarb, broccoli, kale, swiss chard, lettuce, radishes, and microgreens.

Look for flowers and seedlings today for yard and garden as well.

Market Wednesday welcomes new vendors The Crazy Cucumber, Kingdom Fish, Made Without Grain, and Ohio City Pasta.

Today's Vendor Line-Up: Bildsten Landscape, Ohio City Pasta, Fox Hollow Garden, Lona Belle's Home Baked Goods, Doran's Family Farm, Hinton Apiaries, Flying J Farm, Bird's Haven Farms, Made Without Grain, Pleiades Maple Products, Miss Cristy's Bakery, Sweet Thing Gourmet, Montezuma Sauces and Salsas, The Crazy Cucumber, and Kingdom Fish.

Sometimes it depends on the weather - we may see J-Pops today.

We heard from Dick Jensen of Flying J Farm, and he is feeling a bit under-the-weather, but is going to try to come to market. So, keeping a good thought for Dick.

Home grown. Home made. All Ohio. From May to October, the Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market opens for business from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m @ the corner of N. State and E. Home Streets in Uptown Westerville.
