Update: Branstool Orchards has completed their 2012 Market Wednesday Season. Ohio Farm Direct will not be at-market this week.

A sunny fall afternoon, temperatures in the 70s, a light breeze: seems like the perfect ingredients for a great day at the Uptown Westerville Farmers Market.

Market Wednesday continues through October 31st - 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. @ N. State and E. Home.

Fall produce is plentiful - Lee Bird of Bird's Haven Farms tells us fall broccoli has a great flavor. Come to the market and find sweet potatoes, sweet and hot peppers, eggplant, cabbage, potatoes, apples, lettuce, and a tremendous selection of squash varieties.

And, shop for for pie pumpkins or carving pumpkins and harvest decor, like gourds and Indian corn.

Visit Branstool Orchards, Northridge Organic Farm, Bird's Haven Farms, and Flying J Farm.

For meats and proteins: Fox Hollow Farm features naturally-raised beef, pork, lamb, chicken and fresh eggs, Flying J Farm sells grass-fed beef, and Ohio Farm Direct has trail bologna and summer sausage.

This weeks' artisan foods include...

Ohio Farm Direct - cheeses and drinkable yogurt made from organic grass-fed milk.

Montezuma Brand - salsas (from mild to uber hot), hot sauces, barbecue sauce, marinades, rubs, and tortilla chips

Honey Health Farms - raw honey and honey products including bee pollen, bee propolis, and honey combs.

Sweet Thing Gourmet - jams and biscotti

Blue Jacket Dairy - cheeses including feta, cheddar curds, and market favorite Gretna Grillin'

Pleiades Maple Products - Ohio maple syrup, maple suger, maple-coated puffed spelt, sauces, spreads, and maple confections. A simple, sweet treat - Pleiades Maple is a favorite stop for kids (and grown-ups) for maple sugar suckers!

Sue's Kitchen - Sue Renner bakes pies... darn good pies! And... cookies and dessert breads, sometimes even brownies. Sue has been out a few weeks, so we welcome Sue back to Market Wednesday (we'll also see Sue on Oct. 31st).

Farmers' market artisan foods make great gifts - we have market customers who buy jams, maple syrup, salsas and hot sauces and honey as wedding favors, for gift baskets, and thank you gifts.

Old school lore tells us that 90 days after we hear the first locusts of summer, we see the first frost, and with that, produce and flower vendors start to wind down their seasons - Doran's Family Farm and Annabelle's Blooms have ended their season. We appreciate greatly the Doran Family and Anna Brown and the amazing produce selection and beautiful flowers they bring to market. We look forward to seeing them next season in Uptown Westerville.

Dana Lee's and Sugar B Bakery will not be at this week's market.

This week's special guest is the Westerville Electric Division. Time for fall bulbs... we mean CFL bulbs! Stop by to visit Zoe and Tara and get a free CFL light bulb.

When you come Uptown for Market Wednesday, we encourage you to shop Uptown Westerville as well.  Each week, Meza, 48 N. State, just south of the market, features a specially-priced Market Wednesday Sangria Tasting. Looking for affordable wine pairing ideas, stop by to see Tatjana Brown. Meza sells wines from all over the world, including a nice selection of Ohio wines.

Enjoy this beautiful day. See you at the market!
