A light breeze on a low humidity, sunny September afternoon in Uptown Westerville - seems like a great afternoon to take a walk on the fresh side... the farm fresh side!

It's Market Wednesday in Uptown Westerville (remember, the market season runs through October 31st) and the late summer produce selection is quite something - bittersweet news - peach season has come to an end (and we will always speak fondly of the amazing peaches in the summer of 2012 - let's take a moment to remember....sigh) but the seasons change, and apples are here at Branstool Orchards.

The produce selection continues to be top-notch and plentiful - sweet potatoes, butternut squash, cauliflower, cucumbers, green beans, eggplant, tomatoes, sweet corn, peppers, potatoes, onions and more. Stop by Northridge Organic Farm, Bridgman Farm, Doran's Family Farm, Bird's Haven Farms, and Flying J Farm on your trip to market this week.

All produce is locally-grown from Licking and Fayette counties and fresh-picked - our produce vendors have been out since way early this morning prepping for their trip to Market Wednesday.

For family dinner, a gathering of friends, tailgating, or grilling - check out naturally-raised and grass-fed beef, lamb, pork, and chicken from Fox Hollow Farm and Flying J Farm. Ingredient or main dish - Fox Hollow Farm also has fresh eggs.

The Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market features two cheese vendors - from Bellefontaine, Blue Jacket Dairy featuring cheddar curds, Gretna Grillin' cheese, and chevre and from Fredericktown, Ohio Farm Direct featuring cheeses made from organic grass-fed cow's milk. So good.  Both vendors offer samples so stop by, chat, ask questions, taste.

As a matter of fact, most of our vendors offer samples - you won't know until you try... a sample that is! (No pressure to buy if you just want to taste or have a question.)

What else is at the market? Artisan foods including raw honey from Honey Health Farms, delicious jams and biscotti from Sweet Thing Gourmet, chips, salsa, hot sauces, marinades, and rubs from Montezuma Brand, maple syrup, maple-coated spelt, maple confections, and maple sugar from Pleiades Maple Products, and fresh-baked from Dana Lee's and Sugar B Bakery.

We will not see Sue's Kitchen and Annabelle's Blooms this week.

For those of you wondering about the mums from Amherst Greenhouse, we've checked with the Horsts and they don't believe they'll have mums to bring to Westerville this season. Amherst Greenhouse is in Harrod, Ohio in Allen County and the greenhouse is open select hours Monday through Saturday.  Check Amherst's facebook page for details - just click here.

While you're Uptown to visit Market Wednesday, take a walk just south of the market to explore Uptown Westerville. Known for architectural features that span centuries, Uptown Westerville is filled with interesting shops and restaurants like Amish Originals Furniture Co., Morgan's Treasure, Outside Envy, Chocolaterie Stam, A Gal Named Cinda Lou, Westerville Public Library, and Thai Grille.

Meza, at 48 N. State, features a specially-priced Market Wednesday sangria tasting, and owners, Tatjana and Jason Brown, are happy to make pairing suggestions for your favorite recipes and market fare.  Meza, by the way, features a nice selection of Ohio wines.

Have a great day and see you at the market!
