Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: August 8th Market Report

It's a good day to pick up some of your farm fresh summer favorites at the Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market.

Produce abounds! Visit Flying J Farm, Northridge Organic Farm, Bird's Haven Farms, and Bridgman Farm for peppers (hot and sweet), squash (zucchini, yellow, patty pan, zephyr), sweet corn, melon, peaches, tomatoes (from cherry to heirloom), eggplant, cucumbers, tomatillos, onions, garlic, cabbage, potatoes and more.

We've got fresh-picked Ohio peaches! Stop by Branstool Orchards and Malabar Peach & Apple Orchard.

Visit our protein and dairy vendors - Fox Hollow Farm (naturally-raised beef, pork, lamb, chicken, eggs), Flying J Farm (grass-fed beef), Blue Jacket Dairy (cow's milk and goat's milk cheeses), and Ohio Farm Direct (organic grass-fed cow's milk cheese and drinkable yogurt, summer sausage, beef sticks, trail bologna)Meats and poultry are sold frozen, cheese, eggs, and dairy are sold refrigerated.

Shop for home-made artisan foods from Sugar B Bakery (loaf bread, flat bread, cookies), Sweet Thing Gourmet (jams and biscotti), Honey Health Farms (raw honey, honey-based personal care products), Chuck Evans' Montezuma Brand (salsas, tortilla chips, hot sauces, marinades, sauces, rubs), and Dana Lee's (a licensed bakery featuring delicious sweet and savory baked goods).

And, Annabelle's Blooms radiate the color and light of the Ohio summer sun with sunflowers and bouquets filled with select summer blooms like zinnias and snapdragons.

"Gosh, that looks good... but what do I do with it?" Market Wednesday resident cooking instructor, Cindy Ramsey of Chez Cindy will present some great ideas and recipes for serving up some farm fresh delicious from our abundant market fare. Cindy has a passion for good food, so stop by to taste and talk.


Sue's Kitchen will not be attending Market Wednesday this week, but she will be back next week with her delish pies, dessert breads, and cookies.

Pleiades Maple Products will not be attending this week's market as well - so look for Eddie Lou Meimer next week.

Wine enthusiasm in Uptown Westerville - each Market Wednesday, Tatjana and Jason Brown of Meza, 48 N. State (just south of the market), present the Market Wednesday Sangria Tasting featuring fresh seasonal fruit. Meza features a selection of excellent, affordable wines, including wines from Ohio. Market hours are from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and market set up is from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors may not open for business until 3 p.m. - there are no early sales.  Sometimes, like during peach season, lines form - the lines move at a good pace, but we want you to know ahead of time so you can manage your time and expectations.
