Take it outside! A few minutes outside everyday is good for the spirit!  And, today, ahhhh, is a great day to visit the Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market.

Doran's Family Farm tells us they are bringing strawberries today.

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: July 4th Special Market Hours

Wake the kids! Phone the neighbors! Sychronize your watches! Access all calendars! It happens once every seven years...

Market Wednesday falls on the 4th of July!

This year, there will be a special hours Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 from 9 a.m. to noon.

We hope you'll make a trip to the farmers' market a part of your July 4th celebration:

Start the day with the Westerville Rotary 5k Run/Walk at 8 a.m. starting and ending @ Alum Creek Park, North (221 W. Main). For more information, click here to visit Premier Sports.

The 2012 Rotary Club of Westerville July 4th Parade begins at 1 p.m. @ Heatherdown and S. State and travels north on State to St. Paul Parish. This year's parade theme is Peace, Love, Trust, and Freedom.

WARM (Westerville Area Resource Minstry) will be collecting non-perishable food along the parade route.

Westerville Symphony will perform a free concert - Sounds of Freedom - on July 4th at 9:00 p.m. @ the Westerville Sports Complex (County Line West and Cleveland).

And, the day ends with Fireworks at 10 p.m. @ Alum Creek Park, South (near Park Meadow and Schrock).

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: Memorial Day Weekend

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: May 23rd Market Report

School's almost out.  Summer's almost here.  And, a holiday weekend is just days away.

From "What's on the grill?" to "What's for dessert?" it's here on this beautiful day in Uptown Westerville!  













Fruits. Vegetables. Meats. Chicken. Cheese. Eggs. Pie! Cookies. Breads. Confections. Jams. Biscotti. Salsa. Tortilla Chips. Herbs. Hot Sauce. Marinades. Sauces. Spreads. Rubs. Raw Honey. Infused Honey. Herbal Teas. Ohio Maple Syrup. Maple-coated Puffed Spelt. Maple Sugar.

Vegetable, Herb, and Flower garden plants. Hanging flower baskets.

We will not see Bildsten Landscape this week, but they will be back next week.

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: Memorial Day's Field of Heroes

With Memorial Day Weekend approaching, Westerville's Sunshine Rotary will again host the Field of Heroes.

This beautiful, poignant installation of 2,500 American flags to honor those who have sacrificed and served will be on display from May 25th @ 1 p.m. through May 28th @ 12:30 p.m at the corner of N. Cleveland and W. County Line.

Field of Heroes Schedule:

Friday, May 25th
1:00 p.m. - Field Opens to the Public

Saturday, May 26th
9:30 a.m. - Opening Ceremony
6:30 p.m. - Free Concert

Sunday, May 27th
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. - Free bus tours of Westerville memorials
7:30 p.m. - Flag Retirement Ceremony

Monday, May 28th
12:30 p.m. - Closing Ceremony
Flag Pickup at field

All Weekend:
Honor Flight tribute to World War II Veterans
Reading of hero names at noon
Field illuminated at 8:00 PM

The City of Westerville Memorial Day Parade is Monday, May 28th @ 9:45 a.m. starting at College & State in Uptown Westerville and heading south on State and west on Bishop to Otterbein Cemetery.  (A lot of parade spectators follow the parade to the cemetery on-foot.)

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: May 16th Market Report

It's a beautiful day in Uptown Westerville and a great day to come to the market!









What can you find on Market Wednesday?

Asparagus, lettuce, onions, greens, rhubarb, radishes, and in small quantity right now, fresh-picked strawberries.

Protein sources like grass-fed beef, pork, lamb, chicken, cheese, drinkable yogurt, and fresh eggs.

Awesome artisan foods and ingredients including, fresh bread, pie, cookies, dessert breads, salsa, hot sauce, jams, biscotti, raw honey, infused honey, dried herbs and teas, Ohio maple syrup products, and milled flour.

And plants and flowers - vegetable, herb, and flower garden bedding plants and beautiful hanging flower baskets.

Dana Landrum of Dana Lee's will not be attending this week's market. Dana will be back next week with her sweet and savory baked goods (try her crackers some time - yum).

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: Time-Lapse


Market Wednesday vendor Bildsten Landscape supplies the beautiful hanging flower baskets and pots that have become a summer hallmark in Uptown Westerville.

The City of Westerville has posted a very brief, very cool time-lapse video of this year's flowers as they grow in the Bildsten greenhouse.

It is a great day to shop for a little farm fresh!

Sue Renner of Sue's Kitchen and Dawn Combs of Mockingbird Meadows start their 2012 seasons today.

We have a beautiful selection of hanging flower baskets from Bildsten Landscape and Bird's Haven Farms. And, Bridgman Farm and Bird's Havens Farms have a great selection of bedding plants for flower, vegetable, and herb gardens!


Early seasonal produce from Doran's Family Farm, Bridgman Farm, Northridge Organic Farm, Flying J Farm, and Bird's Haven Farms includes asparagus, lettuces, onions, radishes, and rhubarb.


Our selection of sweet and savory artisan foods includes baked confections, fresh bread, biscotti, jams, salsas, hot sauce, tortilla chips, rubs, marinades, maple syrup, cheeses, and honey. One of the best parts of visiting Market Wednesday is taste testing new flavors!

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: May 2nd Market Report


It's the farm fresh season opener for 2012 in Uptown Westerville.

The Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market opens today at 3 p.m. (until 6 p.m.) at the corner of N. State and E. Home St.

At 2:45 p.m., Rev. Ryan Grace of Church of the Messiah, UM will offer a blessing for the market season.

Bird's Haven Farm of Granville features a broad selection of farm fresh produce throughout the season, including vegetables, fruits, pumpkins, and garden plants.

This week, look for potted annuals, herbs, early vegetables (lettuce, radishes, onions) and hanging baskets.

Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: Bridgman Farm


Mary Bridgman of Bridgman Farm (Washington Court House) brings beautiful produce to market each season including heirloom tomatoes,  cherry tomatoes (sun-kissed sweet), Aunt Molly's ground tomatoes (gotta try a sample when they come to market this summer!), peppers, eggplant, onions, melons, and pumpkins.


Mary is looking forward to tomorrow's season opener and is bringing some great options for gardeners. Mary tells us, "I'll have a huge selection of gorgeous heirloom, hybrid and cherry tomato plants, along with summer squash, lettuce and cucumber plants. I'll also have lots of herb plants and sunflower and giant zinnia starts in a rainbow of colors."

Mary feels a true connection to Westerville as a community, she's a retired reporter for the Columbus Dispatch and covered the Westerville city government and city schools beat for years, gaining a special affection for our community in the process.
