Uptown Westerville Farmers' Market: Let Freedom Ring


Each year, we proudly display our favorite description of the Independence Day holiday from Erma Bombeck:

You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness.  You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. 

Westerville knows how to celebrate Independence Day! Here's the basic 411 on the 07.04 courtesy of the City of Westerville:

Rotary July 4th 5K Run/Walk 
8 a.m. (5K begins)
Alum Creek Park North
221 W. Main St.
Register online at www.premierraces.com. 

Parade: Let Freedom Ring in 2014 
1 p.m.
The parade steps off at Heatherdown and South State Street and travel north along South
State Street to St. Paul Parish.
 

ROAD CLOSURE: 12:45-4:30 p.m. (State Street)
-State Street closed from County Line to Huber/Heatherdown
-Detour from Cleveland, Otterbein or Spring to County Line
-Cleveland Avenue remains open 

Sounds of Freedom Concert 
8 p.m.
Westerville Sports Complex
325 N. Cleveland Ave. 

Fireworks 
Dusk
Fireworks are launched from Alum Creek Park South near Park Meadow Road and Schrock Road and can be seen from multiple, convenient locations around the City. For timing and weather-related updates, please follow the City of Westerville Twitter account: @tellwesterville.
